  1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C) and grease an 8-inch round pan, lining the bottom with parchment.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
  3. Whisk sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt into the melted mixture until combined.
  4. Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is slightly soft.
  6. Cool completely, then remove from the pan and garnish as desired.
